Start with the operating problem

A useful product scope explains what the equipment must do, where it will operate, who will maintain it and what happens if it fails. These points influence the design as much as component selection.

Industrial electronics often live with heat, vibration, electrical noise, cleaning processes, wiring constraints and operator habits. Those conditions should be captured before the design is locked.

Define interfaces early

Most project risk sits around interfaces: sensors, actuators, power supplies, communication protocols, operator panels and legacy equipment behaviour.

Build for handover

Plan validation, not just prototypes

Prototype success does not automatically mean field readiness. Validation should be tied to the environment and the failure modes that matter most to the customer.
